Community Garden

The Lawson Heights Community Garden Committee is a group of volunteers working with LHCA, CHEP, and the City of Saskatoon, who have run the community garden in Umea Park since 2019.

The goals of the community garden include: local food security, park enhancement, building community connections, environmental and gardening education, and sustainability

About the garden:

  • The garden is in Umea Park along LaRonge Rd.
  • Plots in the garden are rented by individuals or families for personal use. There is one plot designated for anyone in the community to harvest vegetables. No public harvesting is allowed in rented plots.
  • The garden is organic. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides may be used according to City ordinances.
  • Preference is given to residents of the Lawson Heights for new applicants.
  • Plots may become available each year depending on how many gardeners return from the previous year.
